Cowtown employee J.R. Weston says they’re expecting a big crowd to gather at the locally owned skateboarding store for the event, which kicks off at 7 p.m.
“Go Skateboarding Day is always huge deal for us,” Weston says. “We’ll have people skating around the parking lot all night, special videos showing, and free pizza and drinks.”
The highlight of the night will be the premiere screening of the latest epic trick flick from manufacturer Transworld Skateboarding, which releases a special skating video every year in honor of the holiday.
Afterwards, Weston says that Cowtown employees will lead attendees on an after-dark excursion to an unspecified downtown Phoenix parking garage for a few hours of nighttime skating. Even better, there will be an “insane product toss” from the roof of the garage where merchandise and skateboarding schwag will be thrown out to “anyone who can catch it.”
