If you’ve been into the EDM thing for more than a few minutes, you’ve heard about the Mad Decent Block Party the last couple years. Heard about the great performances by the label’s regulars like Riff Raff, Diplo, and Major Lazer. Heard the tales of wild crowds and even wilder debauchery. And probably heard locals bitch about how the block parties only goes to big cities and never hits up places like Phoenix.
Well, that bitching’s about to stop as Mad Decent, the notorious L.A.-based EDM label that promotes the tour, announced today that Phoenix will finally get a visit by its block party later this year.
This touring beat bacchanal — which is like a rave, epic club rager, music festival, and block party all rolled into one — has crisscrossed the country the past couple of summers, heading to an increasing number of cities each year (five in 2012, 13 in 2013, and a total of 22 this year).
And on Friday, September 12, the Mad Decent Block Party will bring to Rawhide (yes, the kitschy and rustic western restaurant and theme park) in Chandler. Yee-haw.

And based on everything we’ve heard, read, and seen over the years, it’s going to be one wild day of music and mayhem provided by what our sister publication LA Weekly described as a collection of “national/international collection of party-rocking artists” which attracts “a spectrum of attendees, including raver babes, tank-top clad bros, hipster and hip hop heads.”
Sounds like a blast. Although the performer lineup for this year’s block party tour hasn’t been announced yet, ticket prices have: $25 for early birds.
Let’s hope the block party lives up to its reputation.
