Yesterday, while cleaning my apartment (too rare an occurrence, lemme tell you) I listened to a recent broadcast of Henry Rollins‘ excellent radio show on KCRW.

Rollins is a man of many talents: In addition to his excellent program, he writes for our sister paper, LA Weekly, and he tours the world (he’ll be in Tucson on Thursday). One of the things I love about his radio show is the utter diversity.

The radio blaring, I found myself wondering what the neighbors might think as The Mae Shi bled into Fats Waller & His Rhythm, or during the extended run of German Krautrock (for lack of a better term) tunes from CAN, Conrad Schnitzler, Tangerine Dream, Kluster, and Kraftwerk.

None of this has much to do with Brad Dwyer’s strip this week, “Avant-Garde,” other than the fact that Rollins might spin something like Dwyer’s proposed collaboration. You know, depending on his level of sleep deprivation.
