Those speculating about Coachella 2012 (I for one would love to see Refused, but a reunion would ruin the whole breakup, and if Tom Waits is indeed playing, I’ll probably soil myself) should take note of the little logo at the bottom of the advertisements for the Red Hot Chili Peppers upcoming Friday, March 2 gig at Jobing.com Arena.

That’s right, Goldenvoice, the promoters behind the massive Indio festival, are promoting the Chili Peppers’ Valley gig. I’m not saying that means that the jocky, socky funk-punkers are a shoe-in at Coachella, but I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if they headlined a night.

It would make for a busy run of activity for the Peppers. Despite the departure of guitarist John Frusciante (who’s busy contending with his stalker), the band released a new album, I’m With You, an accompanying concert film, and has been announced as inductees to the 2012 Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

In other news, fans of Rush are pissed that the Canadian prog-rockers have been slighted — again. I like the other inductees, Laura Nyro, Beastie Boys, Guns N’ Roses, The Faces/Small Faces, and Donovan far more than the Chili Peppers, but I’m betting that of all the Hall of Famers (and Rush, who will never it in, it seems) the Peppers are most likely to play the big two-weekend festival.
