Coming off two spirit-crushing overtime losses last weekend in Washington, the Arizona State Sun Devils try to regroup tonight against Stanford in a 6:30 game in Tempe.
ASU’s Pac-10 championship hopes went out the window with the back-to-back defeats, and now the team is playing for a decent seed at the upcoming NCAA tourney.

Two wins over the No-Cal schools (Stanford and Cal), and maybe a win or two at the Pac-10 tourney next week will go a long way toward solidifying the Devils’ highest seed at the Big Dance in years.
This weekend will be the last chance for the ASU faithful to watch four-year letterman Jeff Pendergraph at Wells Fargo Arena. A 6-9 center, Pendergraph is a fine player who may find a place on the next leve — rofessional ball — because of his superior work ethic and ability to bang with the big boys underneath.
Saturday’s game against Cal also will be James Harden’s final home game in an ASU uniform. Though he’s only a junior, Harden (in the photo) is very likely to stick his name into the upcoming NBA draft, where scouts currently are billing him as a high first-round pick.
Mr. Harden really is one of the best college players in the country, and is a blast to watch.
Tonight’s game is on Fox Sports Arizona, Channel 34, and on KTAR 620.
Saturday’s tipoff against Cal is at noon.
