Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords has left the Houston hospital where she’s been recovering for the last several months after getting shot in the face during the January 8, Tucson shooting rampage.
She will be living in her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly’s, League City, Texas, home, about 26 miles from Houston.
Giffords will continue outpatient therapy at TIRR Memorial Hermann, the facility at which Giffords had been recovering since moved from Tucson earlier this year.
“Congresswoman Giffords has shown clear, continuous improvement from the moment she arrived at TIRR five months ago,” Dr. Gerard Francisco, the hospital’s chief medical officer, says in a news release. “We are very excited that she has reached the next phase of her rehabilitation and can begin outpatient treatment. We have no doubt that she will continue to make significant strides in her recovery.”
