Secret’s out — Third Fridays are your best chance to see what you missed on First Friday, (plus a few extra openings) without so much shenanigan. And tonight is no exception. Here are seven must-sees if you’re out and about and looking for art.
1. GIG STIGMATA @ Trunk Space
Join the stitching fiend Diana Welsch and painter Leslie Barton for the opening reception of their combined show at Trunk Space, 1506 NW Grand Ave, from 7 to 10 p.m..
2. Luminaria, Choir Music, Apache Storytelling Friday @ The Heard Museum
There’s all sorts of eye and ear candy tonight at the Heard Museum, 2301 N. Central Avenue, during its monthly Third Friday evening series, NU (Native + You) from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
And be sure to check out classical guitar performances, Apache story telling (and tons of artwork) in the Berlin gallery and a special choir performance by the Xavier Prep. Honor Choir.

3. KALEIDAPOCALYPSE @ eyelounge
Daniel Funkhouser unviels his large-scale, self-portrait solo show at eyelounge, which he describes as “an explosion of color and texture on unusual surfaces and recycled materials.” His opening reception will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Eyelounge is at 419 E Roosevelt St.
4. Safwat Saleem’s A Bunch of Crock @ Bragg’s Pie Factory
We covered this show’s First Friday opening, and were excited to hear Saleem announce an additional opening night for his show primarily featuring his works of political satire. Check out the show from 6 to 10 p.m. at Bragg’s Pie Factory, 1301 Grand Avenue.
5. Firestage @ The Firehouse
OK, so maybe we lied about the lack of shenanigan. Firestage is all about it. The underground variety show features spoken word, musical surprises and a whole lot of adult content. Buckle up at the Firehouse, 1015 N 1st. Street (just North of Roosevelt) from 8 p.m. to midnight.
6. “Chair” Group Show @ Jones
With names like Don Bahr, casebeer, Hugo Medina, JB Snyder, Sentrock, Randal Wilson and Noid, you know there’s going to be some seriously good art, and some entertainment, to boot. Check out the group show with a “chair” theme at Jones, 516 E. Portland St., from 7 to 10 p.m.
7. Past/Present:Brent Bond/Santo Press @ Modified Arts
Multimedia artist and Master print maker Brent Bond presents his prints from Santo Press questioning visual and cultural perceptions through satire at Modified arts,
407 E. Roosevelt, from 6 to 9 p.m..
