Perhaps it’s a coincidence, but landscapers in Phoenix dug up a coffin containing what used to be a person at the former residence of a convicted murderer.
Alan Champagne, 42, just happened to live in this home near 16th Street and Indian School Road home after he served 13 years in prison for second-degree murder but has spent the last year living in county jail on new charges — some of which were racked up during a stand-off situation at this same home.
News choppers from a couple of TV stations captured footage of cops pulling out a coffin buried in the backyard containing human remains. The landscapers had been doing work for the new homeowner.
There’s no word yet on the body being identified. We checked in with a police spokesman today, who said there were no updates on the situation.

As you can see from the pictures taken of the coffin, it looks like it’s the homemade variety — in other words, suspicious as hell.
