The Arizona Diamondbacks 2010 season hasn’t provided too much to cheer for. So fans must dwell on the little victories — no matter how futile they may be.
Chris Young provided two little victories on Saturday night in the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 win over the San Diego Padres.
The D-Backs took two of three from the Padres during this weekend’s three-game series, but Young’s two home runs on Saturday — one of which was a game-winning walk off jack in the bottom of the ninth — are the only offensive highlights worth mentioning.
The series’ first game was Friday and it was a yawner — a pitchers dual that ended with a 2-1 Snakes victory.

Dan Hudson was on the hill for the D-Backs and after giving up a home run in the third, was pretty lights out.
Hudson went seven and two-thirds innings against the Padres, giving up only three hits.
The Snakes’ offense wasn’t doin’ much in Friday night’s win but two runs, including an Adam LaRoche home run in the second inning, was enough to fend of the Padres.
Saturday was a different story. The Diamondbacks tallied nine hits for six runs in front of a rare sellout crowd at Chase Field.
The first hit of the game: a Chris Young home run. The last hit of the game: a Chris Young home run.
Young put one into the seats in the first inning and did the same to win the game in the bottom of the ninth.
In standard, D-Backs fashion, the bullpen blew a two-run lead in the top of the ninth. With the score tied at five in the bottom of the frame, Young went yard to win the game and give provide a collective sigh of relief in the Snakes bullpen.
On Sunday, things got back to normal as the D-Backs got crushed 10-1. The bats weren’t workin’ as the team netted only three total hits and pitching — as has been the case all season — was atrocious.
Starter Joe Saunders gave up six runs in six innings and the bullpen wasn’t much better. Relievers Blaine Boyer and Rafael Rodriguez each gave up two runs in the loss.
The D-Backs head to Milwaukee for a three game series with the Brewers. The series starts tonight at 8:05.
