There are cat people and there are dog people — then there are cat collectors, like a Yavapai County woman who apparently has been hoarding felines at her Cottonwood home.

Nearly 100 cats have been removed from the home of the elderly animal hoarder, and all of them, authorities say, will be put up for adoption.

According to the Yavapai County Humane Society, the woman had acquired 96 cats over the past several years, all of which were found living in large pens on her property, or in her home.

The woman’s been breeding Siamese, Scottish Folds, Pixie Bobs, Manx and Bengal cats for profit, authorities say. However, with 96 cats kickin’ around her property, we wonder if she’s ever actually sold one.

The woman has since been hospitalized and she’s given up ownership rights of the cats to Purebred Cat Breed Rescue, who contacted the Humane Society because of its “no kill” policy.

Her family has helping the HS transport the animals from the woman’s cat farm to their facilities where they’ll each be altered, vaccinated, and tested for FIV/FELV before being available for adoption.

Normally, to adopt a purebred cat, the fee is $95, but the YCHS is waiving the fee in a exchange for donations of at least $25 to help expedite the process of finding the cats new homes.

If you’re looking for a purebred cat on the cheap, call the YCHS at (928) 445-2666. For the sake of not turning into a crazy cat lady, try and limit yourself to one pussy at a time.
