From the week of Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve, DUI task forces around the state arrested nearly 4,000 people on charges of driving under the influence.
According to stats provided by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, there were actually fewer DUI arrests this holiday season (3,942) than in 2012 (4,054).

The average blood-alcohol content of impaired drivers, the number of DUI arrests for drugs, and the number of “extreme” DUI arrests all decreased from the 2012 holiday season.

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety also released the DUI enforcement statistics for the entire year, which shows that 2013 was the first year in at least 10 years in which the number of DUIs actually decreased from the previous year.
There were more than 29,000 DUI arrests in 2013, down from more than 32,000 in 2012, and more than 31,000 in 2011.
