A Chandler man convicted of second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter was in court this morning where he was sentenced to prison time and a probation.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Robert Gottsfield sentenced 21-year-old Jeremias Joel Aguilar to 25 years in prison.

In June 2009, police responded to the home of Aguilar’s girlfriend where the 2-year-old was found not breathing.

Aguilar initially told police that the girl fell down, but later copped to being so fed up with her crying that he picked her up and slammed her down onto a concrete floor.
