Hey, I get that this next weekend is art detour and everyone is
busy losing their minds about it. And, trust me, New Times will do a wonderful job of covering it. So today, I’m gonna hit you with something
non-art-detour oriented…but, such no promises for Wednesday and
Friday, btw.
I picked up a flier the other day for “the mini mini”, an art show put on by Spraygraphic.com (the same dudes who did this), Cartel Coffee Lab and Wet Paint Art Store.
If you’re interested in going, here’s the deal: the entire show features art pieces that are exactly 4 in. by 4 in. This ranges from paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, graphic design, fibers and any other crazy crap an artist wants to shove into a little square.
The show opens Saturday, March 7th at Cartel coffee lab in Tempe with an opening party from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. and then moves to Conspire in downtown Phoenix for the month of April.
When news happens, Phoenix New Times is there —
Your support strengthens our coverage.
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
Now, if you’re
interested in participating, you still can. You’ve got a couple days to
whip up something in time for the deadline, Thursday, March 5th. Like I
said it’s gotta be 4 in. by 4 in. and it has to be able to hang on a
wall. And, you have to have a Spraygraphic.com profile to participate (don’t worry, it’s free) and you can pick up a 4 in. by 4 in. canvas at Wet Paint if you need to.
Yes, I get that this is last minute. But if you’re a real artist, you won’t start it until Wednesday night anyway…
“The mini mini 4in by 4in art show” opens Saturday, March 7th from 8 p.m.-11 p.m. at Cartel coffee lab, 225 W University Dr., Ste 101 in Tempe, 480-225-3899, www.cartelcoffeelab.com.
