Old Town Scottsdale is about to lose a pop-up gallery.

Local artists Emmett Potter and Kristin Bauer say that after this month’s show, they’ll be closing Squeeze Gallery, a space they’ve run since August 2010.

“The gallery has been one of the funnest things I’ve done in my life,” says Potter. “But the energy up here has changed — it’s hard to run a gallery as an artist in times like these … Kristin and I have both decided to work on our own art.”

The space’s last exhibition, Ready, Set…, will be a multimedia show of new work by Potter and Bauer and will run from May 12 to June 11.

Potter says the show will feature his consumption-themed work on canvas as well as Bauer’s new sculptures, paintings, and neon installations.

An opening reception will be on May 12 from 7 to 10 p.m..

Squeeze opened in 2010 when Potter and local artist Spencer Hibert (who were running Soyal Gallery together) decided to part ways.

Both spaces were part of Scottsdale’s pop-up art movement along Marshall
Way
that was made possible by building landlords agreeing to house artists and galleries at reduced
rates.
