Perehelion Arts’ new home at the Artisan Villages complex.
Here’s a news tidbit just in time for tonight’s monthly First Friday event: Perehelion Arts has left its long-time home on Grand Avenue and relocated two miles east to Roosevelt Row in the Evans-Churchill neighborhood.
The renowned downtown Phoenix gallery, which is run by art scenesters Amy L. Young and Douglas Grant, made the move earlier this week and is now housed in a storefront at the Artisan Villages complex at 610 East Roosevelt Street.

Perehelion had been previously located at the Grandevelt Building at the intersection of Grand and 15th avenues, a space they occupied since opening their doors in 2004.
Although Grant or Young were unable to be reached for comment on the move, Grandevelt owner says she was notified of Perehelion’s migration only a few days ago. A large sign has been placed in the doorway of the old location advising First Friday patrons of the situation.
Grant and Young will be presenting the “Thinking about La Raza” group exhibition at tonight’s art walk, which features a number of works exploring Chicano and Latino culture from a seven different local artists, including Antonio Vigil, April Flores, and Greg Bojorquez.
