You won’t find cake at Phoenix boutique Cleo & Clementine‘s one-year anniversary (instead, macarons will be on the menu of nibbles), but shop owner and fashion designer Monique Sandoval says that a recent addition to the store will serve as the proverbial candles.
When C&C celebrates its birthday on the evening of Friday, October 18, its new, vintage-inspired neon sign will be aglow.

The Melrose District shop is situated next door to Melrose Pharmacy and specializes in custom wedding gowns, crafted by Sandoval under the banner Ouma, and ready-to-wear party dresses. Displayed throughout the store are wares from vendors ranging from local jeweler Xappaland, Florida’s Rifle Paper Co., and needlepoint works from Poland-based Kasia Urban Rybska.

The light blazing from the new signage, crafted by Sue Meyers at Bend-A-Light Neon Studio and installed earlier this week, will guide Third Friday attendees off the beaten path for a stylish bash from 6 to 9 p.m. Cleo & Clementine’s free soiree will feature a raffle for a custom cocktail dress, gift bags, and a soundtrack by DJ Organic. (No word on whether a killer mix of “Happy Birthday to You” will be in rotation.)
