The countdown has begun.
As previously reported, Norma and Victor Guerrero, the husband-and-wife team behind Guerrero’s Mexican Food, at 2148 East Apache Boulevard in Tempe, have decided to retire and shutter the business they started in July 1982.
Just hours ago, a date for the closing of the 31-year-old business was announced: Wednesday, July 31.

Specializing in affordable, homemade Mexican food, the small counter service eatery, popular with the neighborhood’s locals, is known for dishes like breakfast burritos, flautas, tacos, chimichangas, and Sonoran-style enchiladas.
The Guerreros have sold the property, which Norma tells me will be razed to make way for an apartment complex.
The Geurreros are looking forward to retirement and plan on spending more time with their children and grandchildren in addition helping out with their church.
