The Arizona Diamondbacks have won the inaugural United Nations NGO Positive Peace Award for community giving, the team announced this afternoon.

The award recognizes the team’s work with the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center and the Boys & Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix.

Executives from Celebrate Positive will present the prize to the team at the Diamondbacks’ Evening on the Diamond fundraiser at Chase Field tomorrow evening.

Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall touted the organization’s charitable work as integral to the team. “Giving back to those who are less fortunate in communities throughout Arizona is part of our organization’s mission statement.” He also says it’s “truly a unique honor for our organization to be known as the most positive team in the world.”

It’s not a World Series trophy or a division title, but the team will take it.
