The DUI task forces around the state made a total of 233 arrests for driving under the influence this weekend.
The task forces were out for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend, and since St. Patrick’s Day is today, the total number of DUI arrests obviously will go up.

The average blood alcohol-level of those breathalyzed this weekend was 0.153, nearly twice the legal limit, and an increase over last year’s average of 0.143.

In addition to DUIs, more than 2,000 citations were given out on Friday and Saturday, more than double the citations given out last year. There also are more officers participating in the task forces this year.

Across the Valley, DUI task forces will be in Phoenix, Mesa, and Scottsdale, in addition to any other regular patrols across the cities.
