The way the Arizona Diamondbacks have played this season, it seemed only a matter of time before heads began to roll.

Last night, those heads got rollin’ — news leaked that the team will give the axe to manager A.J. Hinch and general manager Scott Byrnes at a press conference at 10 a.m. today.

During Hinch’s tenure with the team, the D-Backs had an embarrassing record of 89-123, which is good for a winning percentage that’s a solid 80 clicks below .500.

Winning percentage aside, a lot of the games lost this season can be directly attributed to the team’s horrendous bullpen and a collection of torturous eighth and ninth innings where pitching has often let games slip away.

Hinch, who had no managerial experience prior to his gig with the D-Backs, will be replaced by the fist-pump kid himself, Kirk Gibson.

We want to know what you think: Should Hinch been given the boot sooner or should he have been allowed more time to turn the team (by team we mean bullpen) around?
