Phoenix police are searching for a man who doused his girlfriend in gasoline and set her on fire this weekend.

Police Sergeant Trent Crump says the woman, who was heard “screaming for help,” was burned over 30 percent of her body.

The woman’s boyfriend, 44-year-old Ivan Rodriguez, immediately drove away from the house, near Loop 202 and 32nd Street, around 5 a.m. Saturday.

According to police, the woman had returned home in the early morning after a night out with a friend. Rodriguez, her live-in boyfriend and the father of her children, got upset about that and started arguing with her. Eventually, that led to Rodriguez lighting her on fire, police say.

Police believe Rodriguez also burned himself in the process, and police are still trying to track him down.

Rodriguez was seen on Saturday in three different locations: 52nd Street and Thomas, 52nd Street and Van Buren, and 51st Avenue and Thomas.

Crump says Rodriguez’s vehicle was found this morning near 44th Street and Van Buren.
