Reports last week that Tiger Woods would be making his (ahem) triumphant return to golf at a tournament next week in Tucson are false, according to his caddy.
Steve Williams, Tiger’s caddy since 1999, tells the Melbourne Herald-Sun that the reports of Tiger’s prompt return to golf after checking out of a sex-rehabilitation center in Mississippi have “no truth” and are “dead wrong.”
Last week, the Melbourne Herald-Sun reported that Tiger was “poised to make a shock return” to golf at the Accenture Match Play Championship in Tucson next week.
Before entering rehab, Tiger took an indefinite leave from golf to do some “soul searching” after reports surfaced that he was nailin’ just about everything that moved.

We were skeptical of the report because Tiger is yet to follow standard celebrity scandal protocol and give a sobbing, heart-felt apology to someone like Barbara Walters or Oprah. We found it hard to believe that Tiger would just try to blend in at a tournament like nothing ever happened.
There was some reason to believe the report, however. The Tucson tournament is the same one where Tiger made his return last year, after coming back from knee surgery.
Also, according to the uber-credible rumor-mill, Tiger is mulling an appearance at the Masters this April and needs a warm-up tourney to get ready. But TMZ.com speculates that this tournament will be the Tavistock Cup, a non-Tour event scheduled to take place on March 22 and 23, near his home in Florida. Needless to say, we’re not holding our breath.
