If you’ve lived in the South or spend a decent amount of time there, you might already know the name Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. But for those who’ve never heard of the 19-location Texas-based chain of movie theaters, know that Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas has been combining movies, booze, and food since long before it was trendy.
Founded as a single-screen movie theater in Austin in 1997, the company has opened locations throughout the country. Now the Alamo is coming to Arizona — specifically to downtown Chandler as the lead tenant for the city’s new entertainment district.

In addition to the 8-screen Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, The Row will include about three local restaurant partners. The Alamo Drafthouse will have an adjacent bar and restaurant with a menu similar to that offered at the S. Lamar location in Austin. There will be 32 local beers on tap.
The Row will be part of the effort to establish a designated entertainment district in downtown Chandler. Other plans for the initial phase of the Downtown Chandler Development include space for restaurants, retail and offices, with the potential for up to 50 residences, a fitness center/yoga studio, and a parking garage.
The Row is expected to open in late 2015.
